The Ceilidh on Friday, August 2, 2024 in the Katherine Hughes Memorial Hall in the Irish Cultural Centre at 582 North River Road will feature local singer/songwriter Sue Pitre accompanied by singer Frank Whitty on Guitar.  Buddy Longaphie will be the fiddler for the evening.

Sue Pitrie is a singer at many ceilidhs., senior homes and benefits on the Island. She has a CD called "A Smile And A Song”.  Sue is a Walmart Greeter here in Charlottetown and has greeted many customers at Christmas with her many songs. She was selected in 2018 as their National Walmart Greeter for Canada. 

Frank Whitty is very versatile in the country music of the late George Jones, Merle Haggard and others related to country music. Frank has performed at many ceilidhs, benefits and had at one time his own band. He has 2 CD's "The Choices I've Made" and his second "Real Country.

Buddy Longaphie will be the fiddler for the Ceilidh. Buddy Longaphie is known for his strong, hard driving, energetic style of playing. He has been a regular performer at the Rollo Bay Scottish Fiddle Festival, the Monticello Ceilidh, and other concerts and variety shows in the eastern quadrant of Kings County.  Among the fiddlers in Buddy Longaphie’s family were his grandfather William, his uncle A.L., and his father Gus Longaphie. Buddy notes that his father often played fiddle at home, and that fiddlers such as Connie Gallant and JD MacAdam would often come by the house for musical evenings.  

There will be a 50/50 draw during the evening at the air-conditioned, wheelchair accessible and licensed hall. Doors open at 7, show starts at 8. Admission price is $20 at the door. Children twelve and under remain at $5.
