The Ceilidh on Friday, August 30th in the Irish Cultural Centre at 582 North River Road will feature Cian and Mary - Cian O'Morain and Mary MacGillivray joined by Luka Hall-Fiddler and step-dancer Grace Sulis.
The venue is at a air-conditioned, wheelchair accessible and licensed hall. Doors open at 7, show starts at 8. Tickets are available on the website or at the door. $20 for adults and $5 (under 12). The event includes a 50/50 draw and complimentary 'lunch' at intermission.
Cian O'Morain is a multi-instrumentalist, native Irish speaker and story teller from County Kerry, Ireland. He has recently completed a master's degree in the performance of traditional Irish music. He has toured Ireland, Canada and the US. Cian is now living in PEI and happy to be joining this thriving musical community where he can share his love of story, tune and song
Mary MacGillivray is a singer/songwriter who was born in PEI and grew up here as well as Cape Breton. Surrounded by home-made music and her deep PE/CB Island roots, Mary began singing and songwriting at a young age. She sings in English as well as Irish and Scottish Gaelic, and is learning to speak the languages of her heritage.
Luka Hall is a 16-year-old fiddle player from Charlottetown who has been playing since the age of 6. He has performed at the PEI Festival of Small Halls, PEI International Shellfish Festival, Farm Day in the City, Super Fiddle Show in New Brunswick, ‘Luka’s Fiddle’ at Harmony House, Christmas Daddies, onstage twice with Paper Lions and at numerous ceilidhs and fundraisers. In 2021, he was a Junior Showcase Performer for the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Competition. Luka has released two albums: ‘That Little Fiddle Player’ in 2017 and ‘Category 1’ in 2020. His high energy performances will surely have your toes tapping!
Grace Sulis is the winner at the 2024 Summerside Lobster Carnival Talent Contest. She step dances with the Senior Dance Company under Samantha Hughes at Sam’s School of Dance in Charlottetown. Grace is 15 and has been dancing for 12 years.
