To celbrate the BIS 200 year anniversary we have created a 3 Day Heritage Cultural Fair at the Irish Hall. August 8, 9, 10 of 2025 from 12:00 noon - 5:00 pm each day.
Come join us for this free event to celebrate Irish Heritage on PEI. Meet the BIS Board, the 200 Year Anniversary Committee and BIS members.
There will be celtic food (Potato Bannock, Scotish Scones, Soda Bread, Irish Apple Cake...) available for sale in the parking lot. There will be Fiddle music and step dancing throughout the afternoon. There will be Oyster Shucking. There will be 200 Year anniversary merchandise sales. There will be a prize wheel for the children.
Inside there are many activities on the upper and lover levels starting at 12 Noon and finishing at 17:00. Including:
- 10 Island book sellers, who will be doing book readings down in the library of their books.
- Irish Tartan and other Irish products for sale.
- PEI Quilts and Celtic Applique items for sale.

Genealogy Essentials: A Broad Overview of Irish Family Research (Aug 8, 9 & 10) - 12:00 - 13:00 in the Members Room of the Lower Foyer
This one-hour overview session, offered three times, provides a concise introduction to Irish genealogy research beyond Ancestry.ca. We’ll cover key resources like Griffith’s Valuation, Irish parish records, and national archives, along with tips for organizing research and overcoming common challenges in tracing Irish ancestry.
