About this event
As part of the 200-Year Anniversary celbration of the Benevolent Irish Society in 2025, the Society is proud to feature at the Irish Hall a series of instrument Workshops on traditional Irish instrucments.
Nick vanOuwerkerk is a multi-instrumentalist from Prince Edward Island. Born and raised in the heart of the traditional music scene on P.E.I., his musical roots are in Scottish bagpiping, but over the past 15 years, he has also included instruments like the irish whistle, flute and uilleann pipes into his repertoire. His compositions and performances blend unique, boundary-testing material with the original forms of traditional Irish and Scottish music. He has performed professionally across North America and the United Kingdom, including shows at PipingLive! and the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, Winter Storm Scottish Festival in Kansas City, and the Festival of Small Halls.
The tins whistles will be provided as part of the workshop fee.
