Before Renée Zellweger was Roxi Hart in the 2002 musical version, before she was brought to a Broadway stage by Bob Fosse in 1975, even before Ginger Rogers was Roxie Hart in the 1942 film of the same name, Roxie's story was first adapted for the screen in 1927 by Frank Urson & Cecil B. DeMille and played by Phyllis Haver.
