Michael Boyle is a noted Newfoundland author. His latest book "On New Turf" will be available for sale at the Cafe.

Patrick Boyle is Associate Professor of Jazz Studies at the University of Victoria where he teaches courses in music business, theory, history, pedagogy, and performance. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada, he appears on over 50 commercial releases and 3 acclaimed solo albums. CBC Radio has called him a “trumpet personality” and “one of Canada’s top jazz musicians.” He has cultivated the rare ability to synthesize a range of influence — including jazz, rock, traditional, Balkan, and South Indian music — which all come together into a rhythmically compelling musical voice. In 2009, Patrick performed at Carnegie Hall with tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain.

Bill Brennan’s expertise as a pianist, percussionist, composer and producer can be heard on some 130 albums to date. His newest album “Kaleidoscope – Music for Mallet Instruments” has received numerous award nominations. Tom Allen of CRC Radio’s “It’s About Time writes “Bill Brennan’s Kaleidoscope is perfectly named - a constantly shifting, twirling, entrancing and enchanting swirl of beauty and fascination.” His newest CD with Andrea Koziol was released in 2019, entitled “I’ll Be Seeing You”. It garnered the MusicNL Jazz and Blues Award. Bill’s album of 2006 “Solo Piano” received nominations for MusicNL and ECMA Instrumental Album of the Year. His album “Solo Piano 2” won the MusicNL Instrumental album of the year in 2008.

The book signing starts at 5:30pm. The Jazz Show starts at 7pm and is $17 in advance, and $20 at the door.
Our max capacity is 35 so larger groups (>3 people) should purchase tickets well ahead of time. Walk-ins may be available on the day of the show - please drop in or call 709-722-9167 to confirm.
Our Kitchen closes at 4:00pm, but snacks and baked treats are available till 9:00.
Please arrive at least 15 mins early to get seated and avoid the rush. Groups of 3 or more will be assigned a table; free seating for singles and couples. Please check in with our staff before seating yourself.
