Tuesday July 22, 2025 5:30-7:30pm - Join Nicola Ross as she launches the NEW Illustrated Field Journal for Newfoundland’s East Coast Trail.

National Geographic named the East Coast Trail one of the 10 best adventure destinations IN THE WORLD. The trail hugs the Avalon Peninsula for 336 km and passes right by the Battery Cafe. The Field Journal for Newfoundland’s East Coast Trail (ECT Journal) features whimsical maps of 20 East Coast Trails, with important details about how to hike them, and what you can expect along the way.

The trail features puffins, whales, gulches, spouts, orchids, stacks, bald heads, lighthouses, arches, a suspension bridge, “tinkers,” and, of course, Newfoundlanders. And you can hike it from Inn to Inn if a tent is not your style. The ECT Journal is full of helpful hints, including where to stay, where to eat and how to get the best hiking experience.

Nicola Ross is the best-selling author of the Loops and Lattes Series of Hiking Guides. Her Book "40 Days and 40 Hikes: Loving the Bruce Trail One Loop at a Time" was published by ECW Press in 2024. The Independent Publishers Association named it one of the 3 best non-fiction books published in Eastern Canada in 2024.

The Field Journal will be available for sale, and there will be an opportunity to support the East Coast trail as well, and perhaps win a few door prizes!
