About this event
Kate McCann is a folk singer and banjo player whose music draws on old-time, Irish, and sea shanty traditions. Blending storytelling, rhythmic banjo, and folk singing, she performs original songs alongside traditional ballads, inviting audiences to sing along and be a part of the story. Her debut EP, Sea Songs (2023), was released with support from the Maine Arts Commission, and its single “Bone Dry” was named “Song of the Year” by the Maine Songwriters’ Association. Kate brings her immersive performances to intimate venues, museums, libraries, and schools, and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Ethnomusicology at Memorial University.
