Sun, April 26, 2026, 2:00 PM (AST)

About this event
In this performance, Luminos Ensemble and members of the Luminos Chamber Orchestra join the Island Choral Society under the direction of Margot Rejskind, bringing together voices and instruments to celebrate Joseph Haydn’s joyful and awe-inspiring vision of creation. Featuring soloists Georgia Driscoll, Ian Solomon, and Brodie MacRae.
Composed in 1796–1798, The Creation by Joseph Haydn is one of the great choral masterpieces of the Classical era. This monumental oratorio vividly depicts the biblical story of the world’s creation, drawing on texts from Genesis, the Psalms, and Milton’s Paradise Lost. Through radiant choruses, expressive arias, and imaginative orchestral writing—from the mysterious representation of Chaos to the the creation of Light—Haydn brings the unfolding of nature and humanity to life with remarkable colour and drama.
