About this event
Over the years, the National Film Board of Canada has become, outside of Hollywood, the most awarded organization at the Academy Awards, with over a dozen Oscar wins and more than 80 nominations.
This year, it took home the prize for Best Animated Short Film (directed by Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski, with a team including PEI animator Laura Stewart).
As part of our NFB Treasure Series, presented with the support of the National Film Board of Canada, we have prepared a program of short films that were either winners or nominees at the Academy Awards.
Program:
Il était une chaise — Best Short Subject (Live Action Subjects), Nominee, 1958
The Romance of Transportation in Canada — Best Short Subject (Cartoons), Nominee, 1953
Monsieur Pointu — Best Animated Short Film, Nominee, 1976
