September 11 - The September 11th Ceilidh at the Irish Cultural Centre, 528 North River Road, Charlottetown features Lovely Nelly. This group consists of Claudie Mackula, Mark Douglas and Colin Jeffrey. Lovely Nelly will be joined by Havenwood Studios step dancers Janelle Banks and Ayanne Bellefleur.

Inspired by the musical traditions of Scotland, Ireland, and the wider Celtic world, Lovely Nelly brings together lively tunes, beautiful songs, and expressive instrumental arrangements. From the soaring sound of the fiddle and Scottish smallpipes to Claudie Mackula's captivating vocals, the trio creates performances that are both spirited and reflective, celebrating the richness and diversity of Celtic music.

Fiddler Colin Jeffrey has performed for many years on Island stages for Ceilidhs and other events. Jeffrey has immersed himself in Celtic fiddle music at workshops and festivals in Scotland, Ireland and Atlantic Canada and continues to find innovative ways of showcasing Celtic music while preserving its traditions.

Mark Douglas is a traditional Celtic musician known for playing the Scottish small pipes, border pipes, Uilleann pipes, and tin whistle. Douglas has performed with the Belfast Pipe and Drum Band, the College of Piping in Summerside, and at various ceilidhs and venues across PEI.

Claudie Mackula is a Prince Edward Island-based composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist. Mackula creates cinematic, fingerstyle guitar music. Previously, Mackula and her sisters formed the Irish group Cosan and performed across the Maritimes.

You can always count on the step dancers from the Havenwood Studios to provide an energetic, toe tapping performance and this time it will be no exception. Janelle Banks has danced on many Island stages over the years and when you add in Ayanne Bellefleur’s passion for this art form you won’t be able to stop yourself from tapping and clapping along.

Doors open at 6:30. The show starts at 7:30. Tickets are $20. Children under 12 are $5. Advance tickets are available online at Locarius. Tickets are also available at the door but are subject to availability. The hall is air conditioned, licensed and accessible. Complimentary “tea and treats” are served at intermission.
