About this event
August 14 - Join us on Friday, August 14th at the Katherine Hughes Memorial Hall in the Irish Cultural Centre for a Ceilidh featuring the Chaisson Trio: Louise Chaisson MacKinnon, Kevin Chaisson and Sheila MacKenzie on FIddle. Gerard Beaton will be step dancing.
Enjoy a night of traditional Scottish and Irish jigs, reels, strathspeys, slow airs, and ballads. Kevin Chaisson brings his expertise on the keyboard, with deep roots in PEI's traditional music. Louise Chaisson MacKinnon, with her melodic voice, adds beautiful vocals to the mix.
Sheila MacKenzie is a very experienced fiddler and she will have your toes tapping as soon as she starts a jig or a reel. Sheila has played many times on the BIS stage.
Gerard Beaton, born and raised in Mabou, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, has been step dancing for over three decades. He has shared his steps on many concert stages in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Scotland. He considers himself a fan of the older style of Cape Breton step dancing, striving to exemplify the well-known expectations of close to the floor and dancing from the ankles down. We welcome him back to the BIS stage.
The evening includes a 50/50 draw and the best Ceilidh lunch on PEI during intermission. The hall is air-conditioned and licensed. Our lift is back in service. Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the show starts at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under, with a portion supporting the society’s benevolent activities. Tickets are on the website or at the door.
Come early for the best seats. For more information, call Clare at 902-213-4578. Everyone is welcome for a night of wonderful music!
