About this event
September 25 - Ceilidh at 7:30 pm at the Irish Cultural Centre, 582 North River Road will feature popular island music group Guinness, with Laura, Jim and Paddy Farrell. Guest fiddler will be Flora MacLaine. Step dancers will be Grace Sulis-Chaisson and Lillianna Bradley.
Jim and Laura Farrell are the husband, wife and son trio musically known as Guinness. They have been entertaining audiences throughout North America and Ireland since 1981. Their repertoire consists mainly of traditional and contemporary Irish, Scottish and Maritime music played on a variety of instruments including guitar, 5-string banjo, fiddle, mandolin and tin whistle, as well as two strong vocals.
Based in Prince Edward Island, Canada, their musical travels have taken them all over North America. In Canada, from Newfoundland to Ontario and the New York State, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas and Florida in the United States. They have also had the pleasure of traveling and performing in Ireland. The duo's venues include concert halls, pubs, educational venues and festivals and their ability to adapt to any type of atmosphere makes for an enjoyable experience for all audiences.
Their youngest son, Paddy, joined the band in 2013. Playing the bodhran, sharing vocals and occasionally breaking into a lively Irish step dance, he has been a welcome addition to the group. Paddy runs the Farrell School of Irish Dance at the Irish Hall.
Flora MacLaine of New Glasgow is the guest fiddler. Flora also teaches step dancing.
Grace Sulis-Chaisson recently won the 2024 PEI Youth Talent Search Provincial Finals at the Summerside Lobster Carnival, so we know first hand how incredibly talented she is. Lilliana Bradley will be dancing along with Grace during the show and she is a fabulous dancer as well.
There will be a 50/50 draw and complimentary ‘Tea and Cookies" at intermission. The Hall is air-conditioned and licensed. Out lift is now back in service. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show at 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm. Tickets at the door - $20 or $5 (12 and under). A portion of the proceeds will go to benefiting the society’s benevolent activities.
