About this event
PEI Legion Choir: Edges of the Mosaic
This season, we seek to illuminate the works of composers whose identities—shaped by race, gender, sexuality, heritage, and ability—have too often placed them at the margins, believing that when such music is given space to be heard, our understanding of each other becomes richer, more honest, and more complete.
Through music and story, we will recognize a vital parallel between these composers and the lived realities of veterans and members of the armed forces. For some, the uniform covers a complex identity. We honor the "Double Front" faced by service members from these same minority communities: those who defend our nation, navigate the weight of being "the first" or "the only" within their own ranks, and face prejudice while at home.
These songs serve as a witness to a profound strength of character—the grit to thrive in the face of exclusion and the courage to forge a path of hope from the heaviest of internal battles. Together, we define a mosaic where every contribution–every person–is an essential part of what it means to be Canadian.
Join us Sunday, May 23rd at St. Andrews’s United, Vernon Bridge - 2PM, or Tuesday, May 26th at St. Paul’s Anglican, Charlottetown - 7PM. 20$ tickets (10$ for veterans and Legion members) (5$ for youth).
