About this event
Some stories are just better to tell through song.
Queer X Folk: 2SLGBTQIA+ Songwriters in the Round brings together extraordinary LGBTQIA2+ singer-songwriters for an intimate evening of original music, storytelling, and connection. Taking turns “in the round,” each artist shares songs they’ve written, the stories behind them, and the lived experiences that shaped them, creating an event that is as heartfelt as it is unforgettable.
Featuring acclaimed artists Jack Pine (Ottawa), Noah Malcolm (PEI), Izzy Silver (PEI), and Mattie Comeau (Mi'kmaw, New Brunswick), this one-of-a-kind performance celebrates queer voices, identity, and the transformative power of music. Blending folk, pop, Indigenous storytelling, and deeply personal songwriting, each performer offers a unique perspective while inviting audiences into a shared space of honesty, laughter, and belonging.
Whether you’re drawn to soaring melodies, thoughtful lyrics, or the magic that happens when artists share a stage together, Queer X Folk: 2SLGBTQIA+ Songwriters in the Round promises an evening of authenticity, vulnerability, and exceptional musicianship.
Featuring
Noah Malcolm (he/him - Charlottetown, PEI)
A queer folk and pop artist and winner of four Music PEI Awards and a 2025 East Coast Music Award. Rooted in a classic singer-songwriter style, he expands with multi-genre facility, playing deftly on acoustic guitar and piano while singing with impressive range, dynamic and nuance. Signed to CYMBA Publishing, he's collaborated with noted creatives like Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams, Kyle Minogue), David Archuleta (American Idol), and Kellie Loder. In summer 2026, he begins the rollout of his debut LP with the potent single 'God Man’.
Jack Pine (he/him - Gatineau, QC)
An indie-folk lone wolf: a Juno and Canadian Folk Music Awards nominated singer-songwriter playing dynamic and gritty Canadiana with an amplified mandolin and acoustic guitars. With smouldering intensity, he sings out the beauty of the wreckage and the heart of the wretch. His songs chase an incredulous ray of hope pulled straight from the daydreams of a kind-hearted pre-millennial slacker in a dystopian post-millennial world. When Jack takes the stage, you can't help but howl and sing along to his wry folk wisdom - at once biting and inspiring - as his mandolin plays furiously then softly.
Izzy Silver (he/him - Charlottetown, PEI)
An emerging Pop artist and winner of Music PEI’s RBC Golden Ticket. Originally raised throughout the United States, Izzy’s tastes are as varied as the experiences of his upbringing. From the sounds of his mother’s favorite 90s classics, to the lush strings of the orchestras he played with as an aspiring student flautist, to the pounding beat of the gay clubs — these disparate influences converge to create a Pop sound that is sophisticated, emotional, and at times, confrontational, touching on themes of trauma, identity, sexuality, and power.
Mattie Comeau (she/her/T’us - Big Cove, NB)
A Mi’kmaw singer-songwriter, storyteller and ardent defender of Indigenous rights and freedoms worldwide. She believes in the power of music to heal and unite all Peoples. Professionally, she has been collaborating, recording and performing since 2017, and has represented the Mi'kmaw Nation across Canada, in French Guiana and Senegal. late 2022, she formed The Hello Crows with 3 fellow Wabanaki singer-songwriters with the intention of sharing the stories and inspirations behind their songs while educating audiences about their culture, history and the social obstacles they still face today.
Join us for an evening where every song has a story, every voice matters, and music becomes a celebration of queer artistry, community, and belonging.
