About this event
Join Luminos Ensemble as we focus on music setting the poems and letters of people who have served on the front lines of conflict. Taking the famous poem In Flanders Fields as its starting point, the Ensemble will give voice and pay tribute to the experiences of soldiers serving in both past and modern conflicts, including the final letter of a US Private killed in action in Iraq; a meditation by the last soldier to leave the battlefield at Gallipoli; poems on the experiences of Canadian soldiers at Passendale; and culminating in Herbert Howells’ exquisite and virtuosic Requiem for unaccompanied double choir, composed in memory of those who died in World War I.
