About this event
Sunday, Nov 1st @ 3pm at Westile Composite High School w/ the Prince Edward Island Regiment Band
The Prince Edward Island Legion Choir will mark the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion this November with True North; For Those Who Served, For Those Who Remember, a four-concert provincial tour celebrating those who have served Canada and the legacy they have left behind.
The choir will be joined throughout the tour by the Summerside Community Choir, the Prince Edward Island Regiment Band and the Belfast Pipe and Drums.
“This is really a celebration of the country we have today,” says choir director Travis Boudreau. “We’re able to live the lives we do, in the communities we call home, because of the people who came before us and the sacrifices they made. This concert is a chance to recognize that legacy and celebrate the Canada they helped build.”
Local Royal Canadian Legion branches from across the Island will be honoured guests and active participants throughout the tour, ensuring the centennial is celebrated alongside the people who carry the Legion’s work forward today.
“It’s always been about the Veterans,” says PEI Command President David Doucette. “Making sure we serve them any way we can. This centennial is an opportunity to recognize that history and the people who have continued that work for generations.”
“There is something incredibly powerful about hearing all of these musicians together,” Boudreau says. “The different sounds, textures and voices come together to create an experience that is much bigger than any one group could create on its own. It’s music that is meant to be felt as much as it is heard.”
